Hadley’s Orient Hotel has been captivating and charming guests since 1834 and has seen many changes throughout her history.

There have been awnings and verandas of all shapes and sizes.

In 1882, the exterior was “altered so as to present a handsome frontage to the street”.

In 1903, Hadley’s was lit with electric lights and renovated “to keep abreast of the spirit of the times, and to add to the comfort, convenience, and enjoyment of guests.”

Over the past few years, Hadley’s interior has been lovingly restored to its Victorian-era splendour, through beautifully preserved heritage features and the provision of customised carpets, tailor-made bedding and bespoke furniture.

In 2023, and as we approach the “Grand Old Dame’s” 190th birthday, through our restored façade, the character of Hadley’s will radiate in the heart of Hobart, a heritage sentinel amongst our ever-changing cityscape.
